Bruce Sheppard


Bruce Sheppard co-founded Gilligan Sheppard in 1985 and still enjoys the challenges, direction and innovation of the practice. Bruce has become exposed to all aspects of the capital markets in NZ including the inner functioning of regulators, major listed companies and market intermediaries.

Simon McIver


Simon is the current Global Head of Sales & Marketing Operations at Xero. He has significant experience building high performing sales and marketing teams and results in both hyper growth start up and publicly traded companies. Simon has extensive global experience in New Zealand, Australia, United States, Latin & South America, Middle East and Asia Pacific markets.

Kevin McFall


Kevin was a founder and director of two successful and profitable companies in New Zealand (Designer Technology & Marshal Software), one is still operating and the other was sold to NASDAQ listed company NetIQ in 2002. He is a director of Winnow Software and has a proven track record of creating and delivering world class software products, particularly in the security industry.

Graeme is a governance expert, with 20 years’ experience providing specialist advice on board and director effectiveness. He has served on a wide range of boards and as a chief executive reporting to boards. Graeme also publishes the Board Works periodical on governance effectiveness which has an extensive domestic and international subscriber base.

Ruth Medd

AU Advisory Board Member

Ruth is a Certified Practicing Accountant and former IT professional who has been pursuing a career as a Non-Executive-Director since 2000. She was the founding chair of Women on Boards and has been instrumental in the growth of the business and supported thousands of women to become board members. She maintains wide interests outside of WOB, including the start-up sector and angel investing as well as her other board and committee roles.

Ruth was previously the chair of Australian Ethical Superannuation, a member of the NSW Casino Control Authority and a director of the Infants Home at Ashfield. Prior executive roles include executive director of the Australian Association of National Advertisers and senior positions with Telstra, the Australian Broadcasting Tribunal and the Federal Government.

Steven Bowman

Steven is a seasoned Board adviser, with a great depth of experience and skill facilitating Board reviews and strategic planning processes. He has held numerous senior executive, CEO and Board positions with some of the USA and Australia’s most prestigious organisations, as well as authoring and co-authoring over 14 books on governance, strategy, risk and executive leadership.

Brian Steele

NZ Advisory Board Member

Brian is a governance professional with 12 years experience and a focus on emerging high growth companies in the arts, health, education and TMT (telecommunications, media and technology) sectors. He served the Wellington branch of the Institute of Directors for a number of years and was involved with development of the institute’s advisory board toolkit.

Kerryn Newton

Kerryn is the Managing Director of Directors Australia, a national board consulting and non-executive director recruitment firm. Kerryn advises businesses on how to improve board and organisational performance through strategy, board structure, board composition, and governance systems and practices.

Kerryn has over 25 years’ experience working in various legal, management, and commercial roles in the private and public sectors, and as a consultant working across the private, government, publicly-listed, and not-for-profit sectors across industries.
